Yurii A. Luhovskyi (Barret)

Yuriy Luhovskyi was born on June 5, 1994, in the city of Chervonohrad, Lviv region. From a young age, he served in the church. He graduated from Chervonohrad Secondary School No. 9. He obtained a carpenter's specialty and worked in his profession. He was a member of the UPA (until 2012 — in the Lviv branch, then he moved to the Chervonohrad branch), teaching young men military affairs. He always demonstrated an active pro-Ukrainian position and was an active participant in the Revolution of Dignity. With the beginning of the Russian armed aggression against Ukraine in June 2014, he volunteered for the National Guard's special forces battalion "Donbas," signing a contract for military reserve service, holding the position of a shooter in the 1st company, and had the call sign Prom. He fought in battles for Artemivsk, Popasna, and Ilovaisk. In February 2015, he was accepted into military service under contract and transferred to the separate special forces unit "Azov" of the Mariupol operational designation regiment (military unit 3057) of the Eastern Operational Territorial Association of the National Guard. He participated in battles for the village of Shyrokyne. He effectively operated at the front line for several months in a row. In one of the battles for Shyrokyne in April 2015, a Barrett bullet killed an enemy fighter right during the filming of a propaganda segment for a Russian television channel. He was killed on March 9, 2018, at 2:15 AM near the village of Vodiane in the Azov region from a bullet fired by an enemy sniper during a sniper duel. On March 10, the personnel of the "Azov" regiment bid farewell to the fighter in the garrison in the village of Urzuf. During his address to those present, the regiment commander noted that on March 14, Barrett was supposed to receive an award for Volunteer Day — a personalized firearm.
