Yurii A. Moroz

23-year-old paratrooper Yuriy Moroz was killed on April 5, 2022 near the village of Novovoznesenske in the Kherson region. During the performance of a combat mission, the soldier suffered fatal injuries as a result of a hostile ATGM hitting the APC he was in. Yuriy was born and lived in Lviv. He stuwas killed at schools No. 33 and No. 49. He then graduated from Lviv Higher Vocational School No. 29, obtaining the profession of mechanic-fitter. Later, he chose a military career and joined the army. Since 2017, the man has served in the ranks of the 80th separate air assault brigade. He carried out combat missions on the territory of the ATO / JFO. After returning to civilian life, he worked at the Lvivkholod trading and production company. In the first days of the full-scale invasion, Yuriy returned to his 80th brigade and continued to defend his homeland from the enemy together with his comrades-in-arms. He held the position of machine gunner. Yuriy's wife Olga said that her beloved half is no longer there and will not be next to her, and she does not want to come to terms with this. She remembered how he calmed her down, assuring her that nothing would happen to him, but her fears turned out to be true. Yuriy was devoted to service and his Motherland as a soldier, and to his family as a husband and father. The young defender was buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv. Yuriy Moroz was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage, 3rd degree.
