Yurii A. Voloshyn

Senior Sergeant Yuriy Voloshyn (call sign Kozak) was killed on December 7, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Tyahynka in the Kherson region. The defender was only 24 years old. Yuriy was born in the city of Lutsk. He first studied at local school No. 2, and then finished school No. 24. He loved fishing and motorcycles. In peacetime, he was engaged in the repair and sale of motorcycles. "He loved all animals, especially dogs, he would not eat himself, but would give it to the dog, he always said: 'We can open the refrigerator ourselves, find something, prepare or buy it ourselves, but they cannot. Only we can feed them'." Heroes die, but their spirit lives forever. Yura was a very bright person, calm and very kind. We miss him very much," said his friend and neighbor Olha Kaidy. In January 2023, Yuriy joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of gun commander in the 37th separate brigade of the marine corps. He took part in battles in the Donetsk region, near the settlements of Velyka Novosilka and Shakhtarsk. From October, he defended Kherson and the region. The defender was buried on the Alley of Military Burials in the village of Harazdzha near Lutsk. Yuriy is survived by his parents, sisters, and goddaughter.
