Yurii B. Loiko

Senior gunner Yuriy Loyko was killed on December 29, 2022 during an artillery shelling near the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. The warrior was 31 years old. Yuriy was born in the village of Novyi Yarychiv, Lviv region, in a large family. He graduated from the Lviv branch of the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts with a degree in "Computer Engineering". In 2014, the man joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend his homeland. He fought in the Donbas, in the area of the Anti-Terrorist Operation / Joint Forces Operation. When the full-scale war began, Yuriy lived in the Czech Republic. But in the first days, he returned to Ukraine to take up arms and continue to defend Ukraine from the Russian invaders. He fought as part of the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo. Together with his comrades-in-arms, he defended the hot fronts. "Yura was a very kind and sensitive person. He was on the Maidan and in the ATO from the first days... A hero," said his friend Oleh. "Since 2014, Yuriy has been defending his homeland, he went through the Ilovaisk cauldron... But the damned enemy took his life now... We express our sincere condolences to the family of the Hero! Let us pray for the soul of the Hero, may it find eternal rest, and may the Lord God give strength to the family to bear this heavy grief!" wrote the head of the Novoyarychiv community, Petro Sokolovsky. The serviceman was buried in his native village of Novyi Yarychiv in the Lviv region.
