Yurii D. Pentela

Yuriy Dmytrovych Pentela was born in the village of Verbova, Tulin District, Vinnytsia Oblast. After finishing school, he enrolled in the Vasylkiv Aviation College of the Kyiv Military Air Force Institute, specializing as an "Aviation Technician." He served in the 1st Brigade of Army Aviation. Later, he held the position of helicopter onboard technician in the city of Kherson. He participated in the UN peacekeeping mission in the Republic of Congo. He was a participant in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO). In 2022, he served in the 11th Separate Brigade of Army Aviation. He was killed on March 4, 2022, in Donetsk Oblast. His evacuation helicopter was shot down by a missile near the village of Velyka Novosilka in the Volnovakha District. He was buried on March 16, 2022, in his native village.
