Yurii H. Borychenko (Nimyi)

Paratrooper Yuriy Borychenko died on November 25, 2023 in a Kyiv hospital. While carrying out a combat mission, he sustained severe injuries on October 31 during an artillery bombardment in the Makiivka area of Donetsk region. Doctors fought for his life until the end, but the warrior's heart stopped. He was forever 35 years old. Yuriy was from the village of Vyshnyvets in Ternopil region. He studied at the local school. In 2010, he graduated from the Kyiv National University of Internal Affairs with a degree in Law and a qualification as a lawyer. He was passionate about sports and practiced professional mixed martial arts (no-holds-barred fighting). He represented Ukraine in European MMA competitions and won awards. The full-scale war caught the man abroad - in Portugal, where he had lived and worked for over 10 years. However, he decided to return to his homeland and defend it. On June 29, 2023, he joined the ranks of the defenders. After training at the National Academy of Land Forces in Lviv, he was appointed sergeant of the 95th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "Yuriy was sociable, fair and honest. Those who knew him say that people like him are extremely rare," said the deceased's relatives. "Yuriy lived and worked abroad. But his heart was in Ukraine. He loved his town, the people living in it, his family, and friends. Perhaps that's why Yura came to defend Ukraine and each of us. Unfortunately, Yuriy was severely wounded at the front. How many prayers for the health of the son did the mother utter, how many tears did she shed... But the quiet candle went out, and now Yuriy will guard from heaven the people dear to his heart," wrote his fellow villagers. The defender was buried in his native village. His parents and sister were waiting for him at home.
