Yurii H. Popyk

Soldier Yuriy Popyk (call sign "Cook") died on September 9, 2023 near the village of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region. During the battles, he received fatal injuries as a result of enemy mortar shelling. Now the warrior is forever 35 years old. Yuriy was from the city of Khmilnyk in the Vinnytsia region. He graduated from the Khmilnyk Agrarian Vocational Education Center. He lived with his family in the village of Kozhuhiv, worked as a cook-butcher in the "Radon" sanatorium and at the "Vizyt" enterprise for about 11 years. He was interested in motorcycles. During the full-scale Russian invasion, the man was mobilized into the airborne assault troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 46th separate airmobile brigade. He held the position of rifleman - grenade launcher assistant. "A caring son, a loving husband and the best dad," that's how his wife Iryna described the defender. Yuriy was buried in the village of Kozhuhiv in the Vinnytsia region. He is survived by his mother, brother, wife and three children. Soldier Yuriy Popyk was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage, 3rd degree.
