Yurii I. Ozhohanych (Batia)

Senior Lieutenant Yuriy Ozhoganich (call sign Batya) was killed on November 21, 2022 in the village of Vasylivka, Zaporizhzhia region. During the performance of a combat mission, he received multiple penetrating wounds. The defender was forever 50 years old. Yuriy was born in the village of Valiava, Cherkasy region. He lived in the village of Potuteriv, Ternopil region. He graduated with honors from the National University "Odesa Maritime Academy". In 2015-2021, he was a participant in the ATO / OOS. After the end of the contract, he was demobilized. He went abroad to earn money. On February 25, 2022, he was mobilized into the ranks of the 44th separate artillery brigade. He performed the duties of the commander of the anti-tank artillery platoon. "This was a man with a capital letter. Not in vain did the brothers-in-arms say that he was Great. He had a very good heart. He could listen and suggest, he always helped everyone. As soon as the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began, the brother, without hesitation, returned with his eldest son to the Motherland and went to the military registration and enlistment office: "If not us, then who?". After February 25, we did not see him alive anymore. We met Yuriy on the shield. He passed on his love for Ukraine to his sons as well. They also defend us on the hot fronts. Due to his loss - pain, sadness and tears..." - said his sister Tetyana Ostapenko. Yuriy was buried in the village of Potuteriv, Ternopil region. The hero left behind his mother, sister, wife and 5 children.
