Yurii I. Shkliaruk (Trener)

Captain Yuriy Shkliaruk (call sign Trainer) was killed on April 2, 2023 near the village of Ivanivske in the Donetsk region during an assault on enemy positions. He would have turned 24 years old on May 30. Yuriy was born and raised in the village of Uladivske in the Vinnytsia region. Even in the lower grades, he wrote a letter to the future, expressing his dream of becoming a military officer. That's why he did not hesitate in his choice of profession. After finishing school, he entered the Military Academy in Odesa. In addition to military affairs, he was also passionate about sports. After graduating in 2020, the young officer joined the 80th Separate Airmobile Brigade. He was a platoon commander. He participated in the Joint Forces Operation in Donbas. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, as part of his unit, Yuriy resisted the enemy in the Kherson direction, after which he took command of the 2nd Airmobile Company. After coordination, the units went on the assault. Later, he took part in the battles near Kreminna in the Luhansk region, and in the winter he went to defend Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. "Yuriy's death is an irreparable loss for his family, friends, our community and all of Ukraine. The bright memory and boundless gratitude for his loyalty to the Motherland will forever remain in our hearts. The war takes the best," the Kalynivka City Council noted. The officer was buried in his native village. Yuriy is survived by his parents and sister.
