Yurii M. Herasymenko

50-year-old Junior Sergeant Yuriy Herasymenko was killed on March 23, 2022, during the defense of Chernihiv region from Russian occupiers. Yuriy was born and lived all his life in the village of Kulykivka, Chernihiv region. After school, he obtained the profession of a gas-welding fitter at Kulykivka Vocational School. He worked as a builder. He was a good specialist, as he could do everything: from laying the foundation to roofing, as well as external and internal work in premises. On the second day of the full-scale war, Yuriy went to the military enlistment office. On March 1, he was called and told he had 30 minutes to prepare. Since that day, the man served as a driver-radiotelephone operator in the 1st Rifle Company of the A7105 unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He took part in the defense of his native Chernihiv region. "My brother was fair, honest, modest, and responsible. Unfortunately, his earthly journey is over... Now he holds the heavenly formation...", said his sister Valentyna. Yuriy was buried in his native Kulykivka. His mother, sister, wife, and daughter did not wait for their defender from the war. Posthumously, the fighter was awarded the Order of "Courage" III degree.
