- Yuriy Mykhailovych Hrypych was born on March 9, 1984, in the village of Horodyshche, Rivne District, Rivne Oblast. In May 2022, Junior Sergeant Yuriy Hrypych was called up for military service in the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine as part of the mobilization. Since October 2, 2022, as part of a consolidated unit, he honorably and with dignity fulfilled his military duty in an area of active combat operations. On October 30, 2022, the enemy shelled the positions of Ukrainian border guards in the area of the village of Volodymyrivka in Donetsk Oblast. The adversary fired from multiple launch rocket systems, large-caliber artillery, mortars, and automatic grenade launchers. During the battle, the border guards noticed the approach of Russian troops. Junior Sergeant Yuriy Hrypych engaged the enemy's personnel with fire and covered his comrades during their movement to fallback positions. The occupiers suffered significant losses and attempted to retreat. The unit advanced to the enemy's concentration point and, not allowing them to withdraw, destroyed Russian soldiers. As a result of the confrontation, one infantry fighting vehicle was destroyed, one was damaged, 20 servicemen of the Russian Federation were eliminated, and one serviceman with a radio station was captured. During close combat with the enemy, Yuriy Hrypych sustained injuries incompatible with life. For personal courage and selfless actions demonstrated in defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as loyalty to his military oath, Junior Sergeant Yuriy Mykhailovych Hrypych was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" of the III degree.Memory Book of the MIA System
