Yurii M. Kutsyi (Butsefal)

Reconnaissance officer Yuriy Kutsyi (call sign Bucephalus) was killed on July 9, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission in the Orikhiv area of Zaporizhzhia region. The warrior was forever 24 years old. Yuriy was born and lived in the village of Varvarivka, Khmilnytskyi region. After school, he entered a vocational school and obtained the profession of a mason-electric welder of manual welding. He worked in construction. He loved to spend time with friends, read a lot of literature, and engaged in self-development. He loved to ride his motorcycle. During the full-scale invasion, the man fought against the occupiers in the reconnaissance company of the 80th separate air assault brigade. Later, he was transferred to the reconnaissance of the 47th separate mechanized brigade "Magura". "Yura was like a brother to me. He always came to help when I needed it. And I'm sure not only to me. I communicated with his comrades-in-arms, and everyone said he was the best to stand shoulder to shoulder with. In the village, no one will say a bad word about Yura. Always friendly and smiling guy!" - said his friend and godfather Andriy Lobodzinsky. "I've known Yura since school. A very good guy, always smiling. He was cheerful and sincere, very smart. He could help in difficult times and support. He still had many plans for life, but in 2019 he was drafted into the army. Since then, his whole life has been there. As Yura said: "My family, my girlfriend is the army." He was not afraid to give his life for Ukraine, because he took an oath to the Ukrainian people and defended his land to the last breath. He sincerely believed in Ukraine's victory, and we will achieve it," added his fellow villager Anastasia Haletska. The defender was buried in his native village. Yuriy is survived by his parents, brother, relatives, many friends and comrades-in-arms.
