- Junior Sergeant Yuriy Ohorodnyk was killed in action on May 7, 2022, near the village of Cherkaski Tyshky in the Kharkiv region. While carrying out a combat mission, the soldier was blown up by an enemy mine. He was only 23 years old. Yuriy was from the city of Chervonohrad in the Lviv region. He stu at specialized school-collegium No. 3. In 2018, he graduated from the local vocational mining and construction college and obtained the profession of underground electrical mechanic. He then worked in his field at the "Stepova" mine of the State Enterprise "Lvivvuhillia." He was passionate about football. In April 2019, he was drafted for mandatory military service. In October 2020, he signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine and since then had been defending his homeland. He served in military unit A4150. "I loved and still love my son, who was a wonderful child and a good person. Everyone respected him. He was not afraid to go for mandatory service because he wanted to learn everything and achieve things on his own, but life turned out differently than one plans... He gave the most valuable thing he had for us — his own life," noted Lesya Ohorodnyk. The hero was buried in the village of Murovane in the Lviv region. Yuriy is survived by his parents and a younger sister. Posthumously, Yuriy Ohorodnyk was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi of the III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
