- A 39-year-old cameraman and photographer, Yuriy Oliynyk, was killed on March 23, 2022, during combat operations near the town of Popasna in Luhansk region. Yuriy was a veteran of the Anti-Terrorist Operation, having fought on the Donbas front in 2014-2015 as part of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Daniel. His unit also carried out combat missions near Popasna at that time. He was a native of Lviv. After returning to civilian life, he worked as a cameraman at the Lviv bureau of "24 Channel". He was passionate about photography, mountaineering, hiking in the mountains, archeology, and studying history. He returned to the war for the second time from the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion. And once again, he found himself in the ranks of his native 24th Brigade. "As soon as the full-scale war of the rf against Ukraine began on February 24, Yuriy immediately announced that he would go to the front and appeared in the military enlistment office on the first day," said a statement on "24 Channel". "Yuriy was an incredibly friendly and bright person. He knew how to support in difficult moments, loved life very much, and our country. We all miss him very much," said his fellow soldier Andriy Drozd. The hero was buried in the Field of Honorary Burials at the Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv. Yuriy is survived by his parents and brother.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
