Yurii O. Marchenko (Vohnyk)

42-year-old soldier Yuriy Marchenko (call sign Vohnyk) was killed on February 20, 2024 near the village of Klishchiyivka in the Donetsk region. While repelling an enemy attack, he sustained fatal injuries during a direct hit of a shell on the dugout. Yuriy was born in the village of Strohanovka, Kherson region. He lived in the city of Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk region. He was an electrician by profession and worked at LLC "Interpipe Niko Tube". In his free time, he loved to read. The man was called up for military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine on October 18, 2023. He became a soldier of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade "Kholodnyi Yar". He served in the fire support company. "Yuriy was an extremely kind person. He could not refuse anyone and always helped," said the sister of the deceased, Iryna. The defender was buried in the Alley of Heroes of the cemetery in Nikopol. At home, Yuriy was awaited by his mother, sister, and daughter.
