- Senior Sergeant Yuriy Ovcharenko (call sign Badger) was killedon January 7, 2023, in a shootout with the occupiers near the village of Yakovlivka in the Donetsk region. While rescuing a wounded comrade, the soldier received fatal gunshot wounds. He is now forever 43 years old. Yuriy was born and lived in Dolyna, Ivano-Frankivsk region. He graduated from the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas. He worked as a supervisor in Poltava. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his daughters Valeriya and Anastasia. During the full-scale war, the man defended the state as part of the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of commander of the machine gun section of the machine gun platoon. In the summer, he held the defense of the settlement of Zaitseve in the Donetsk region. During one of the enemy's assaults, Yuriy was concussed - he covered his comrade and got caught under the rubble when an enemy shell hit the position. While in the hospital, doctors also found thrombosis of his legs. Yuriy underwent operations on both lower limbs. But, despite the injuries, on December 3, he returned to the zero positions to his comrades. "Yuriy was the best: a loving father for his daughters, a wonderful son and support for his parents, a loving husband, a faithful friend. He was always cheerful and smiling, he loved to joke a lot. A bright and sincere person! After the death of my father, I received numerous messages and calls from his comrades. According to them, they lost a warrior and a faithful friend who never left them in trouble. I am proud of my dad and want the whole world to know about his courage and fearlessness. He gave the most precious thing he had - his life. This person undoubtedly deserves eternal memory and honor. Yuriy Ovcharenko did everything for our Victory, now we have to do everything to honor his feat," said the eldest daughter of the deceased, Valeriya. The warrior was buried in his hometown. At home, Yuriy was awaited by his parents, brother, wife and two daughters.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
