Yurii P. Barashenko

Born on May 2, 1966, in the village of Shumilovo, Bershad district, Vinnytsia region. Graduated from high school. Served in the airborne troops of the Armed Forces of the USSR. Served in the group of Soviet troops in Germany. Made 57 parachute jumps. After the army, graduated from the Faculty of Physical Education of Vinnytsia State Pedagogical Institute (now Vinnytsia State Pedagogical University named after Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi). Engaged in parachuting, played field hockey, participated in the USSR championship. Worked for 5 years as a coach at a children's and youth sports school in the city of Bershad, Vinnytsia region, then as a physical education and military training teacher at a general education school in the village of Krasnosilka, Bershad district. Lived in the village of Mankivka, Bershad district, Vinnytsia region. Engaged in sports. Played for the football team "Tsukrovik Krasnosilka." Was a champion and prizewinner of district, regional, and republican competitions in football and athletics. On April 22, 2015, mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Completed training at the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Ground Forces Academy. Served in the 9th separate motorized infantry battalion of the 59th separate motorized infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. For some time, served at the administrative border with the occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea by Russian troops. Since September 2015, participated in the anti-terrorist operation in Eastern Ukraine. Served in the area of the city of Popasna, Luhansk region. For exemplary service, received the rank of captain and became a company commander. Buried on August 6, 2016, in the cemetery of the village of Mankivka, Bershad district, Vinnytsia region.
