Yurii P. Kovalchuk (Stoliar)

Soldier Yurii Kovalchuk (call sign Stolyar) was killed on June 23, 2023, in battle with the occupiers near the village of Ivanivske in the Donetsk region. The defender was 30 years old. Yurii was born in the village of Verben, Rivne region. He graduated from the Demydiv Higher Vocational School No. 25. He was married and lived with his family in the village of Peremyl, Volyn region. He worked at a poultry farm. He dedicated his free time to his family. During the full-scale Russian invasion, on May 2, 2023, the man was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 80th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade. He held the position of a rifleman - a member of the crew. "My husband and the father of our wonderful 7-year-old daughter was faithful to the military oath to the Ukrainian people. Having courageously fulfilled his military duty, he was killed in battle for Ukraine, its freedom and independence," wrote Olena Kovalchuk. The soldier was buried in his native village in the Rivne region. Yurii is survived by his mother Halyna, wife Olena, daughter Viktoriia, sisters Olha and Mariia, and brother Ivan.
