Yurii P. Zavadiak (Borman)

Border guard Yuriy Zavadyak (call sign Borman) was killed on August 28, 2023, while performing a combat mission in the area of the village of Andriivka in the Donetsk region. He was 33 years old. Yuriy was from the village of Imstychovo in the Zakarpattia region. He received secondary education at a rural secondary school. He worked abroad. He loved the land, nature, and animals. With the start of the full-scale war, the man was mobilized into the ranks of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. He served in the 94th (Chop) border detachment. "Yuriy was a very good person, he always came to help willingly. During the full-scale invasion, on February 24, 2022, he was abroad, but he could not remain aloof and returned home to defend the state," his sister Maryana Tsitsak said. "He was a sincere person. He was distinguished by restraint and politeness. Yuriy loved his land endlessly and never shunned any work. He liked to take care of domestic animals the most. Any work in the agricultural sector was within his reach. The hero would have lived and lived, started a family and continue to develop, but fate ordered otherwise," the Bilkivska community noted. The defender was buried in his native village. Yuriy is survived by his sister. Posthumously, Senior Soldier Yuriy Zavadyak was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
