Biography
Yuriy Ruf was born on September 26, 1980, in Berezhany, Ternopil Oblast, in the family of scientist Roman Mykhailovych Dadak. He grew up in Lviv. In 1997, he graduated from Lviv Lyceum No. 93. From 1997 to 2002, he studied at the National University of Bioresources and Nature Management of Ukraine, majoring in "Wood Processing Technology," and received a diploma as an engineer-technologist. In 2008, he became a Candidate of Technical Sciences, defending his dissertation on the topic "Improving the efficiency of dust collection in wood and wood-based materials processing." He held the position of associate professor at the Department of Wood Processing, Carpentry, and Wooden Construction Products. Yuriy Ruf was actively involved in public activities. In 2015, he founded the NGO "Literary and Educational Project 'Spirit of the Nation'," which gained popularity in the right-wing nationalist environment. Since his youth, Yuriy began writing poetry. His works have repeatedly been included in modern poetry collections. Numerous songs by Ukrainian rock bands have been created to his lyrics, which allows us to speak of the author as one of the ideologists of the Ukrainian militant rock scene. For many years, Yuriy Ruf was the host and screenwriter of the militant festival "Kholodny Yar." From the first days of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, he was a volunteer on the front lines. As part of the 24th Lviv Brigade, he fought in Luhansk Oblast. He was killed on April 1, 2022, during an enemy mortar attack. He was buried with full honors on April 9, 2022, at the Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv.Burial place
