Yurii S. Holovach (Khed)

26-year-old senior soldier Yuriy Holovach (call sign Khed) was killed on October 2, 2022, near the village of Terny in Donetsk region. While performing his official duties, he sustained fatal injuries during an enemy airstrike on Ukrainian positions. Yuriy was originally from the city of Lutsk. He graduated from the Volyn Vocational College of the National University of Food Technologies. He worked at the LLC "Nova Poshta," holding the position of head of the postal branch. He loved sports and practiced Greco-Roman wrestling. During the full-scale Russian invasion in August 2022, he took up arms to defend his country, joining the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He fought as part of the 49th Separate Rifle Battalion "Karpatska Sich." He held the position of senior driver of the mortar group in the fire support platoon. "My son was a bright and sincere person. He loved life, people, his work, and his country, which he went to defend from the enemy," said Svitlana Holovach. The defender was buried in the village of Harazhdzha in Volyn. His parents and brother were waiting for him at home. Posthumously, senior soldier Yuriy Holovach was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
