Biography
Yuriy Serhiyovych Vorona was born in 1996 in Chernihiv region. He professionally engaged in boxing: was a three-time champion of Chernihiv region, as well as a prize-winner of Ukrainian and international competitions. With the beginning of the full-scale military invasion of russia in Ukraine, he went as a volunteer to the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and was on the front line. Yuriy Vorona last contacted on March 8, 2022, and then disappeared. Relatives and friends searched for three weeks in hospitals, nearby villages, and placed hundreds of messages on social networks. Yuriy was killed in the first days of the full-scale invasion of russia in Ukraine near the village of Lukashivka, which is 17 km from Chernihiv. After a successful battle for the village of Kholychivka, Yuriy Vorona and his comrades were sent to defend the village of Lukashivka. There, a fierce battle began, in which the athlete was killed, receiving a shrapnel wound to the head. Local residents buried the fallen boys in their village, and when Ukrainian troops entered there, they showed the place where they had buried the defenders. Yuriy Vorona's body was found only on April 4, 2022, after the retreat of Russian troops. The hero was reburied in the village of Lisoven, Chernihiv region, where Yuriy had lived in recent years.Burial place
