Yurii S. Zhuk (Zvirobii)

Born on March 2, 1981, in the village of Lozuvatka, Pyatykhatsky District, Dnipropetrovsk Region. Graduated from the general education school of the village of Lozuvatka and the Oleksandriya State Agrarian Technical School with a degree in "veterinary medicine" in the city of Oleksandriya, Kirovohrad Region. Worked as a veterinary paramedic in a collective farm. Served in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during compulsory military service. Served in the 11th Separate Army Aviation Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A1604, the urban-type settlement of Chornobayivka, Bilozerka District, Kherson Region). After military service, worked as a driver at a research station, a locksmith, and a screener. Mobilized as a volunteer into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Completed a three-month military training at a training ground near the city of Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk Region. Served as a machine gunner in the 53rd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit V0927, the cities of Sievierodonetsk/Lysychansk, Luhansk Region). Participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. Call sign "Zvyrobiy." Served at the checkpoint "Stalingrad" near the urban-type settlement of Stanytsia Luhanska, Luhansk Region. On June 17, 2015, soldier Zhuk was killed as a result of an explosion on a tripwire in the area of the platoon strongpoint No. 5311 near the urban-type settlement of Verkhnotoretske, Yasynuvata District, Donetsk Region. Buried in the cemetery of the village of Lozuvatka, Pyatykhatsky District, Dnipropetrovsk Region.
