Biography
Yuriy Viktorovych Hapula was born on May 3, 1978, in the city of Khorol in the Poltava region. He graduated from the Khorol Gymnasium and the Agro-Industrial College in his hometown. He then studied at the Poltava State Agrarian Academy, majoring in "Mechanical Engineer." He worked at the Khorol Mechanical Plant for a long time. In 2015, he joined the military service and participated in combat operations in the ATO zone in eastern Ukraine. With the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, he was voluntarily mobilized in the first days, along with his son Vladyslav: they went to the front as volunteers. Both were at the forefront as part of the 81st Separate Airmobile Brigade. Yuriy Hapula held the military position of a rifleman-medic in the 1st Airborne Assault Platoon. He was killed on May 6, 2022, during a massive shelling of the village of Malynivka near the city of Huliaipole in the Zaporizhzhia region, covering his son and comrades. His wounded son was saved by his comrades. The farewell ceremony for Yuriy Hapula took place on May 10, 2022, near the Holy Assumption Cathedral in Poltava, and the next day in Khorol. The fallen was buried on May 11, 2022, in his native Khorol.Burial place
