On April 22, 2023, as part of the border service unit "Chop" (type C) of the 94th border detachment, Yuriy Havryliuk was dispatched to perform combat missions to repel the armed aggression of the Russian Federation in the area of the village of Andriivka, Bakhmut district, Donetsk region. While carrying out tasks in an active combat zone, Yuriy Havryliuk demonstrated courage and heroism during the defense and holding of positions. On July 19, 2023, in the area of the village of Andriivka, Donetsk region, the enemy's assault group repeatedly attempted to attack the fire position of the Ukrainian border guards "Basein." Throughout the day, the enemy shelled the positions, fired from multiple launch rocket systems, large-caliber artillery, mortars, and automatic grenade launchers, and used aviation to deliver strikes.
