- Soldier Yuriy Horenyuk (call sign Viking) was killed on November 8, 2022, near the settlement of Nevelske in the Donetsk region. While fulfilling his official duties, the fighter came under artillery fire and was mortally wounded. The defender was 48 years old. Yuriy was born and lived in the village of Sloboda-Shargorodskaya in the Vinnytsia region. After completing his secondary education, he worked as a builder. He adored fishing. He painted beautifully. He loved listening to music and singing. He had an excellent knowledge of history, geography, biology, and religion. He was a creative person who quickly found common ground with everyone. With the onset of the full-scale war, the man joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of a gunner in a motorized infantry company. "The kindest and most caring father, a model of a true man! A person who impresses with kindness, generosity, sincerity, dignity, and patriotism. He never left anyone in trouble. He never spoke empty words; he proved everything with his noble deeds. He always fought for justice. A person with a capital letter. Dad, I bow my head before you, for you are our Defender and Hero! As long as my heart beats, I will glorify You and thank you for your upbringing and love! You are a part of my soul," wrote the daughter of the fallen, Iryna.
