Yurii V. Karpenko

Senior soldier Yurii Karpenko was killed on October 22, 2022, while carrying out a combat mission in the Kherson direction. The warrior was 26 years old. Yurii was born in the village of Verbka, Vinnytsia region. He graduated from the Vinnytsia Transport Professional College. He lived in Kyiv. In recent years, he was engaged in entrepreneurial activity. He was interested in the history of wars. He dreamed of growing shrimp, snails, and ostriches in the future. He loved plant growing. And every day he had a new interesting fact - about everything in the world. In the first days of the full-scale invasion, Yurii voluntarily mobilized into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of an artillery crew member in the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Yakov Handziuk. "A true hero and patriot of his country. On the morning of February 24, he went to his native village and the next day joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He did not hesitate for a second, jokingly saying: 'Who, if not me?'. A bright and beautiful person. A loving son, a caring brother, the best friend. The cream of our nation. He did not have time to get married, but he had a beloved girlfriend. He had no children, but he fought for all the children of Ukraine," said Iryna, the girl of the deceased. Yurii was buried in his native village. At home, his parents, sister, beloved girlfriend, and many relatives and friends were waiting for him.
