Yurii V. Koroliov

Soldier Yuriy Korolyov (call sign Yurets) died on June 20, 2022, while carrying out a combat mission in the Vuhledar area of Donetsk region. He was killed by enemy artillery fire. Two days before this, the defender would have turned 41 years old. Yuriy was born and lived in Dnipro. He received a secondary education. In civilian life, he worked as a metallurgist. His last place of work was the Dnipropetrovsk Metallurgical Plant named after G.I. Petrovsky. In his free time, he loved to go fishing. In the first days of the full-scale war, the man voluntarily went to the military enlistment office, having a determined intention to defend his Motherland. He went to the front line at the beginning of March. He served in the 53rd separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Vladimir Monomakh. He was a mortar man. "Yura was a kind and cheerful person, he had many friends. I miss him very much. I'm sad," said his wife Natalia. Yuriy was buried at the Krasnopilsky cemetery in his hometown. At home, his parents and wife were waiting for the defender.
