- 43-year-old Sergeant Major Yuriy Lazoryak (call sign Sparta) was killed on December 18, 2022, while carrying out a combat mission in the Donetsk region. Near the village of Berestove near Bakhmut, the warrior received a fatal injury during enemy mortar shelling. Yuriy was born in the village of Ispas, Chernivtsi region. After school, he received secondary specialized education in Odesa and Chernivtsi as a gas and electric welder and a marine mechanic. He was engaged in ship repair, had his own sawmill. He dreamed of becoming a history teacher. He read a lot. He loved to work with wood. He lived with his family in Chernivtsi. Since 2015, the man has been fighting in Donbas. He repeatedly carried out combat missions in the ATO / JFO area. For conscientious service and dedication to the cause, he was encouraged with awards and decorations from the command. From the first days of the full-scale Russian invasion, Yuriy continued to defend Ukraine in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 10th separate mountain assault brigade. At first, they defended the northern direction. And in the summer, their unit took up the defense of the Donetsk region. "A kind, bright, cheerful person, a patriot of the state, a true friend and faithful comrade. Crafts just submitted to him. He adored a few things: the sea and ships, ice cream and... my mother, his wife Lyalychka. Thank you for everything! Deep bow and eternal honor to the Hero of Ukraine!" - said the deceased's daughter. The defender was buried in the Alley of Glory of the central cemetery in Chernivtsi. Yuriy is survived by his mother Nastasia, brother Serhiy, wife Larysa, daughter Anastasia, and son Illia.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
