- Born on June 21, 1992, in the city of Lichen, German Democratic Republic (now - Brandenburg, Germany) in a military family. In 1993, the family moved to the village of Berezniki in the Emilian district of the Zhytomyr region. From 1998 to 2002, he studied at the general education school in the village of Berezniki, Emilian district. In 2002, the family moved to the urban-type settlement of Emilian in the Emilian district. In 2007, he graduated from general education school No. 1 in the urban-type settlement of Emilian. From 2011 to 2012, he served in the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. He underwent training at the training center of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (military unit 3007, city of Zolochiv, Lviv region). After training, he continued service in the patrol and post company of the 25th separate brigade of internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (military unit 3030, city of Kyiv). On March 19, 2014, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 30th separate guards mechanized Novograd-Volynskyi Rivne Red Banner and Suvorov brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0409, city of Novograd-Volynskyi, Zhytomyr region). Since the summer of 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On August 8, 2014, Sergeant Makarchuk, soldier Ishchuk, and soldier Shepetko went missing during the strike-search actions of the battalion tactical group of the 30th mechanized brigade in the area of the village of Marynivka, Shakhtarsky district of Donetsk region. After DNA testing, it was established that he was buried as an unknown soldier in the Glory Alley of the Krasnopil cemetery in the city of Dnipropetrovsk (now - Dnipro). On March 19, 2015, he was reburied at the cemetery of the urban-type settlement of Emilian. On September 1, 2015, a memorial plaque was unveiled in the urban-type settlement of Emilian on the facade of the building of general education school No. 1 (Shevchenko Street, 4), where Yuriy Makarchuk studied.Book of Remembrance for Ukraine - Ukrainian memorial
