Biography
Yurii Viktorovych Roy was born on January 1, 1979, in the village of Solomna, Volochysk district, Khmelnytskyi region. After graduating from school, he studied at the National Academy of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine named after B. Khmelnytskyi, in the internal troops faculty. After graduating in 2000, he was assigned to service in the city of Zaporizhzhia. Later, he studied at the Academy of Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. In 2007, he was assigned to service in the city of Melitopol. Since 2014, he served in the area of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO), emerging unharmed from encirclement near the city of Ilovaisk. During the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he held the rank of lieutenant colonel and served as the commander of the 2nd patrol battalion of the 23rd separate brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. He was killed on March 19, 2022, by a sniper's bullet during battles with Russian occupiers near the city of Mariupol in the Donetsk region. For personal bravery and selfless actions demonstrated in defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as loyalty to the military oath, Yurii Viktorovych Roy was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" of the 3rd degree.Burial place
