Yurii V. Romanchuk (Khimik)

Defender Yuriy Romanchuk (call sign Khimik) was killed on March 28, 2023 near the village of Bohdanivka in the Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission, he received fatal injuries during enemy mortar shelling. In April, the defender would have turned 40 years old. Yuriy was born and lived in Chervonohrad, Lviv region. He graduated from the Lviv Cooperative College of Economics and Law, specializing in "Accounting and Auditing". He worked as a driver-rescuer in the Lviv-Volyn Militarized Mining and Rescue Squad of his hometown. He was passionate about cars and their repair. During the full-scale war, in May 2022, the man was mobilized into the ranks of the State Special Transport Service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. He held the position of driver of the fire damage section of the assault company of military unit T0910. "Yuriy was cheerful, kind, sensitive, intelligent and courageous, he loved Ukraine. He joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine on May 12, 2022. He understood where he was going and what he needed to do to protect his native motherland from the invaders. We mourn, we remember. He remains in our hearts and has become our guardian angel. Our Hero!" - said his ex-wife Viktoria. The warrior was buried in the Alley of Glory of the Bendiuzky cemetery in the Lviv region. Yuriy is survived by his mother, brother, son, daughter, relatives, friends and comrades-in-arms. Posthumously, soldier Yuriy Romanchuk was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree. The defender was also posthumously awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of Chervonohrad".
