Yurii V. Zaskoka

Yuriy Viktorovych Zaskoka was born on August 3, 1981, in Dnipropetrovsk. He received higher education at the Law Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. He began his service in law enforcement as an operational officer in the department for combating offenses in the field of intellectual property and high technologies, and from that moment on, he confidently moved forward. In the Cyber Police Department, Yuriy held the position of head of the critical infrastructure protection department. He dedicated nearly 24 years to his work in law enforcement. Yuriy Zaskoka specialized not only in exposing cybercrimes but also engaged in preventive work. He repeatedly reminded citizens of the necessity to adhere to cyber hygiene rules. "He was always a bright and positive person, able to easily defuse any tense situation, and there probably was no area he couldn't handle," recalls his friend and colleague Oleg Novik. Yuriy played the piano since childhood, could pilot airplanes, and had culinary skills. Despite his responsible job and tight schedule, Yuriy always found time for his family. To his wife Natalia, he was the best support, and to his two children, a loving and caring father. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he helped provide Ukrainian defenders with bulletproof vests and helmets. Yuriy Zaskoka died on October 10, 2022, as a result of a massive rocket attack on Kyiv. Colleagues and loved ones remember Yuriy as a loyal friend, a professional, and a patriot of Ukraine. For the team of the Cyber Police Department, this is a great loss.
