Yurii Ye. Korotov (Fil)

Yuriy Korotov (call sign Phil) was killed on January 17, 2023 in a battle with the occupants near the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. The 26-year-old fighter covered his comrades, but received fatal injuries. Yuriy was born in the city of Dnipro. From childhood, he was passionate about football. In 2008-2014, he was a player of the youth teams of "Dnipro", "Inter" and the football club of the city of Volodymyr-Volynskyi. In 2015, he entered the Faculty of "Construction and operation of buildings and structures" of the Prydniprovsk Energy Construction Technical School. Three years later, he entered the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management, Faculty of Finance and Banking. He always took an active part in the life of the community. He was a volunteer. With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Yuriy joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He fought in the ranks of the 3rd separate assault brigade. He took part in battles in the Donetsk region. He always enjoyed authority and respect among his comrades. "He was a faithful comrade and a brave fighter. He stood out for his dedication and loyalty to the cause he was engaged in. He had a strong spirit and an unbreakable will. He was killed with a weapon in his hands," said his acquaintance Yulia. The defender was buried in the cemetery in the village of Lyubymivka, Dnipropetrovsk region. Yuriy is survived by his mother Tetyana and father Yevhen.
