Yurii Yu. Kuzmych (Rosomakha)

36-year-old junior sergeant Yuriy Kuzmych (call sign Wolverine) was killed on October 12, 2022 near the village of Shcherbaky in the Zaporizhzhia region. While carrying out a combat mission, he received fatal injuries as a result of enemy mortar shelling. Yuriy was born in the village of Markivka, Mykolaiv region. In childhood, he moved with his family to the neighboring village of Malakhove. There he finished school. Later, he trained as a driver and began working on a farm in his native village. He got married and moved to the village of Dmytrivka in the Mykolaiv region. He worked as a construction worker, laying paving slabs. He devoted his free time to his family. During the full-scale war, the man joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine and went to the front line. He served in the 67th separate rifle battalion. He held the position of machine gunner in the rifle squad of the rifle platoon of the rifle company. "My dad was a real Hero. He saved his comrades, and for me and my mom, he was ready to do everything in his power," said his daughter Yulia. "Why did you leave us so early. Your beautiful image has faded forever. We cannot reconcile with such a fate. We cry, dear, for you," his wife Veronika wrote. "Yura was an extremely sincere, sensible person, a true comrade and brother-in-arms. It is very sad that he will never be among us again. No one can return a son to his mother, a husband to his wife, and a father to his daughter. No one can alleviate their pain, the pain of the loss of a warrior who laid down his own life on the altar of our freedom," added the Berezanska community. The soldier was buried in the village of Markivka, Mykolaiv region. At home, his mother, wife and daughter were waiting for Yuriy.
