Іван Олександрович. Хайлак (Рататуй)

Senior soldier Ivan Khailak (call sign Ratatouille) was killed on October 29, 2022 in a battle with the occupiers near the village of Pavlivka in the Donetsk region. A month before this, the fighter turned 31 years old. Ivan was born and lived in the city of Obukhiv, Kyiv region. He obtained the profession of a carpenter-machine operator at a vocational school in Kyiv. He worked at the AEROC plant. After back surgery, he changed his profession and became a taxi driver. In his free time, he loved to go fishing. In 2014-2015, he fought in the ATO in Donbas. With the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, Ivan returned to the ranks of the native 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of a shooter-sniper. After prolonged battles until the beginning of 2023, Ratatouille was considered missing in action. He was seen off on his last journey on January 5, 2023 in his native Obukhiv. "Vanya is my eldest son. When he disappeared, and then they showed his documents on the Internet and next to him, already lifeless in a black bag, the whole life flashed before my eyes - how he was born, grew up, stuwas killed... He was very obedient and kind, loved to help everyone, had many friends. The comrades-in-arms said that after the shelling, Ivan would run, pull everyone, to see if anyone was touched. During rest, he cooked dinner for everyone, which is why he had the call sign Ratatouille. My pain will never subside, because this is my child, I will never get used to the fact that he is not there. He is forever 31 years old... It is very painful from the fact that there are so many of them there, on the Alley of Glory," said the mother of the fallen Oksana. At home, Ivan was awaited by his parents, brothers and sister. The warrior did not have time to start his own family.
