- 42-year-old soldier Petro Lisovyi (call sign Leshyi) was killed on November 5, 2022, near the village of Spirne in the Bakhmut district of Donetsk region. During a firefight, Petro, while covering his comrades, was surrounded by the enemy. According to eyewitnesses, they heard the Russians offering Petro to surrender. But he refused. After that, an explosion and automatic gunfire were heard. Petro Lisovyi was from the village of Bila in the Ternopil region. He studied at a local school. Then he obtained a profession as a construction finisher at the Chortkiv Higher Vocational School. He worked both in Ukraine and abroad, mainly engaged in repair work. In his free time, he loved to play football and go fishing. From 2014 to 2015, he participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO). On February 25, 2022, he again took up the defense of his homeland against the enemy. He served in the 105th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a gunner in the anti-aircraft artillery division of the 80th Separate Battalion. "We lived very harmoniously; my brother helped me in everything. When he was 17, our father Roman passed away. He was also 42 years old... Petro had golden hands; everyone was satisfied with his work. He was a good brother, son, father, and friend. He always tried to help everyone — with work, advice, or finances. He had many friends. At home, he tried to do everything and help my mother with everything. He was a good householder. He did all the repairs at home himself. When he was fighting in the ATO, he helped his comrades, even chopping firewood, which is why he was given the call sign Leshyi. He had a lively character; he was everywhere in abundance, always the first, just like in the war. When he called, he never complained, saying that everything was fine. When he went to the position, he said: 'I will return from the position — and go home on leave.' But, unfortunately, we did not wait for him to return alive," said the fallen soldier's sister, Olha. "I would like to thank him for everything he did for me, and most importantly — for giving his life so that we could live in peaceful Ukraine! Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Heroes!" wrote his niece Anastasia. The hero was buried in his native village. Petro is survived by his mother Yevheniya, sister Olha, ex-wife Natalia, daughter Viktoriya, son Nazar, as well as other relatives, friends, and comrades. He was posthumously awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of the City of Chortkiv."Memory Platform 'Memorial'
