Василь Іванович. Шилипенда (Позитив)

Scout Vasyl Shylypenda (call sign Positive) was killed on September 12, 2022, while performing a combat mission near the village of Opytne in Donetsk region. On September 23, the defender would have turned 33 years old. Vasyl was born in the village of Malyatyntsi in Chernivtsi region. He graduated with honors from the Chernivtsi Cooperative Economic and Legal College with a degree in "Commodity Science and Commercial Activity." In peaceful life, he was engaged in entrepreneurial activities—providing construction services and doing a lot for the development of the infrastructure of his village and the city of Chernivtsi. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, he volunteered to defend Ukraine. He served in the 115th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was in the reconnaissance unit of the reconnaissance platoon of the reconnaissance company. On September 7, 2022, Vasyl was awarded the medal "For Service in Intelligence." "Vasyl was my friend; we stu together at the cooperative college. He was very kind, always positive, and the first to help in any situation. He was not a military man, but at a critical moment for the state, he took up arms and stood up to defend the Ukrainian people," said his friend Nadia. "He was a cheerful, polite, sociable person, a caring son, a brother, and a loving father," noted his fellow villagers. On September 18, 2022, the defender was buried in his native village. A little daughter, Alisa, was left without a father. Vasyl was also awaited at home by relatives and many friends.
