- Junior Sergeant Vitaliy Krykun (call sign Alik) died on May 24, 2022, in a traffic accident near the village of Slovyanka in the Dnipropetrovsk region while performing a combat mission to transport equipment and cargo. The soldier was 25 years old. Vitaliy was born in the village of Trylisy, Kirovohrad region. He lived in the village of Matviyivka in the Cherkasy region. He stu at the Cherkasy Professional Automobile Road Lyceum. After completing his studies, he decided to dedicate himself to military service and the defense of his country. In 2016, he signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 43rd separate artillery brigade. He participated in the ATO/JFO. Since 2019, he has served in the 104th separate automotive brigade of the logistics forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of senior driver and squad commander. With the start of the full-scale war, Vitaliy, together with the unit, continued to perform his official duties to ensure the protection of the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. During his service, the soldier was repeatedly awarded, including the "For Honor and Courage" of the II degree, "Participant of the ATO", "Participant of Combat Operations", "Defender of the Fatherland", and "For Excellence in Military Service" of the III degree. He also had many commendations from the command. "He was the best brother, son, and friend. Brave and courageous. Very cheerful and witty. A true patriot of his country," said the sister of the fallen, Olga. The military was buried in the village of Matviyivka in the Cherkasy region.
