Володимир Миколайович. Толкін

Born on July 19, 1985, in the city of Dnipropetrovsk (now Dnipro). Graduated from a general education school in the city of Dnipropetrovsk. In the spring of 2014, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a grenade launcher in the mechanized battalion of the 93rd separate guards mechanized brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A1302, the urban-type settlement of Cherkaské in the Novomoskovsk district of Dnipropetrovsk region). From spring to summer 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On August 1, 2014, the unit in which senior soldier Tolkin served received an order to seize a separatist stronghold in the city of Avdiivka, Donetsk region, by force. The military took position in the headquarters, and within a few hours, the militants learned of their location and attacked using mortars and small arms. One of the shells exploded under the feet of senior soldier Tolkin, resulting in injuries from which the serviceman died on the battlefield. He was buried at the Left Bank Cemetery in the city of Dnipropetrovsk (now Dnipro).
