- Born on February 26, 1986, in the urban-type settlement of Stavyshche, Kyiv region. In 2002, he graduated from the Stavyshchensky Educational Complex "General Secondary School I-III degrees - Legal Lyceum" No. 2 named after O.S. Palansky. During his studies at school, he actively engaged in the martial art of jiu-jitsu at the self-defense sports club "Kolos" and participated in competitions multiple times. In 2000, he took 1st place in the Open Championship of Pereyaslavshchyna in jiu-jitsu and 2nd place in the Ukrainian Championship in jiu-jitsu; in 2001, he won 1st place in the Ukrainian Championship in jiu-jitsu in the 1st round (14-15 years) in the weight category up to 72 kg (city of Zaporizhzhia) and 3rd place in the jiu-jitsu competitions at the International Tournament "Glory of Pereyaslavshchyna" (city of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyi, Kyiv region). From 2002, he studied at the Faculty of Tax Police of the National Academy of State Tax Service of Ukraine (city of Irpin, Kyiv region). During his studies at the academy, Serhiy was a member of the academy's kickboxing and jiu-jitsu team, participating in competitions; in 2003, he took 1st place in the 1st All-Ukrainian Tournament of the 1st round in jiu-jitsu in the weight category up to 94 kg (city of Bila Tserkva, Kyiv region), in 2005 - 1st place in the Open Championship and City Championship of Kyiv in kickboxing in the low-kick section in the weight category of 86 kg, 3rd place in the Open Championship and City Championship of Kyiv in kickboxing in the light-contact section in the weight category over 89 kg, 3rd place in the Ukrainian Championship in hand-to-hand combat in the weight category over 85 kg, and 3rd place in the competitions of the Open Cup of the State Protection Administration of Ukraine in hand-to-hand combat in the weight category over 85 kg. In 2004, he participated in the parade on the occasion of the 13th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence in Kyiv, for which he was awarded a "Letter of Gratitude from the Minister of Defense of Ukraine." In 2006, he graduated from the Faculty of Tax Police of the National Academy of State Tax Service of Ukraine (city of Irpin, Kyiv region) with a degree in "Lawyer," specializing in "Operational and Search Activities." From 2006 to 2007, he worked as an operative officer in the Tax Police Department of the Bila Tserkva United State Tax Inspection of the State Tax Service of Ukraine in Kyiv region. In 2007, he graduated from the correspondence department of the Faculty of Law of the National Academy of State Tax Service of Ukraine with a degree in "Lawyer," specializing in "Financial Law." After graduating from the academy, he went to France, where he served for six months in the French Foreign Legion of the Armed Forces of France. From 2008, he underwent an internship as a lawyer's assistant in a private law firm in Kyiv. From 2010 to 2011, he worked as an operative officer in the Department for Combating Illegal Trade of the Tax Police of the State Tax Inspection in the Obukhiv District of the State Tax Service of Ukraine in Kyiv region. In 2012, he graduated from the correspondence department of the Judicial and Prosecutorial Faculty of the National University "Yaroslav Mudryi Law Academy of Ukraine" (city of Kharkiv). From September 2012, he worked as an investigator in the Prosecutor's Office of the Krasnodon District of Luhansk region, and a year later, in 2013, he was transferred to the position of prosecutor of the Dnipro Environmental Prosecutor's Office (city of Cherkasy). In the winter of 2014, due to the events of the Revolution of Dignity, Serhiy resigned and returned with his family to his native settlement of Stavyshche, Kyiv region. With the start of mobilization, he repeatedly approached the military commissariat, requesting to be mobilized, but was refused each time. On July 21, 2014, he voluntarily approached the Stavyshchensky District Military Commissariat again, where he was sent to the 169th Training Center of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (urban-type settlement of Desna, Kozelets District, Chernihiv region) for training and military service under mobilization in the 25th Territorial Defense Battalion "Kyiv Rus" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit field post V0676). From August 24, 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. Call sign "Legionnaire." From September 16 to 26, 2014, he was on leave. During his leave, Serhiy purchased a MITSUBISHI Pajero vehicle at his own expense and modified it for service in the anti-terrorist operation zone. On October 7, 2014, while performing a combat mission, a reconnaissance group of four, which included soldier Tsymbal, was ambushed in the area of the city of Debaltseve, Donetsk region. In an unequal battle with militants of the Russian-terrorist group, Serhiy Tsymbal was killed from two gunshot wounds while covering the retreat of his comrades until the last moment. On October 10, 2014, he was buried at the Central Cemetery of the urban-type settlement of Stavyshche, Kyiv region. On November 20, 2014, by the decision of the 51st session of the Stavyshchensky Village Council, Tsymbal Serhiy Volodymyrovych was posthumously awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of the Settlement of Stavyshche." On December 3, 2014, a memorial plaque was unveiled in the urban-type settlement of Stavyshche on the facade of the building of the educational complex "General Secondary School I-III degrees - Legal Lyceum" No. 2 named after O.S. Palansky (Sergiy Tsymbal Street, 53), where Serhiy Tsymbal studied. On March 19, 2015, by the decision of the 56th session of the Stavyshchensky Village Council, the street named Soviet was renamed to Tsymbal Serhiy Street in the urban-type settlement of Stavyshche, Kyiv region. On April 24, 2015, in Kyiv, on the territory of the National Defense University of Ukraine named after Ivan Cherniakhovskyi (Povitroflotskyi Avenue, 28), a stele was opened for servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who were awarded the title of "Hero of Ukraine," among whom is the name of Serhiy Tsymbal. On May 19, 2015, in the city of Irpin, near the main building of the National University of State Tax Service of Ukraine, a memorial was opened for fallen graduates of the educational institution who defended the integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, among whom is the name of Serhiy Tsymbal. He was awarded the medal of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate "For Sacrifice and Love for Ukraine" (09.01.2015 - posthumously). By the decree of the President of Ukraine No. 636/2015 dated November 13, 2015, for exceptional personal courage, heroism, and self-sacrifice displayed in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, the title of Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Order of "Gold Star" was posthumously conferred on soldier Serhiy Volodymyrovych Tsymbal.Book of Remembrance for Ukraine - Ukrainian memorial
