Andrii M. Chertov (Mazhor)

21-year-old soldier Andrii Chertov (call sign Mazhor) died on July 30, 2023, in the area of Orikhiv, Zaporizhzhia region. During the performance of a combat mission, he found himself under the rubble of a building as a result of a hit by an enemy guided air bomb on the location of the unit. The warrior was to get married to his beloved in a week. Andrii was born in the village of Burchak, Zaporizhzhia region. He lived in Zaporizhzhia. He graduated from Mykhailivske Higher Vocational School, obtaining the profession of an information processing and software operator. He was passionate about cars and football, and had many awards. He loved life and had many plans. After his studies, he worked in Poland. In addition, he was involved in everything where he could earn money - taxi, delivery, resale of goods. He returned to Ukraine, and a few months later the great war began. From the very beginning of the full-scale invasion, the guy began to look for opportunities to get into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. All military registration and enlistment offices in the city refused him due to his age and a record of unfitness for health reasons. But this did not stop him. He found a way to get into the Zaporizhzhia volunteer unit. He underwent training and took part in hostilities in the East. Later, he still managed to get into service. On September 1, 2022, he joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade "Magura". He held the position of driver in the PVZ. A month later, he was transferred to the state secret protection service, where he served until his death. "The selection for this brigade was tough. It was not easy to get in, but he made it. He always talked about how a real man should protect his family, his home, his country. His home is occupied. He dreamed that soon it would be liberated and he would hug his grandmother (as he called her). In his too young years, he did more than many in a lifetime. He is my soul. He is my world. I would give everything in the world to have the opportunity to save him. He was, is and will be the best for me. He had many friends, he always helped everyone, he understood everything and could do anything. He is my stone wall. He very much wanted a child. And I'm sure he would have been the best dad. We dreamed of a big house, a big family... After the war, he very much wanted to engage in agriculture. But the irreparable has happened. Everything that we wanted together, I will definitely implement. I will do everything the way he wanted. In memory of him. I am grateful to fate for the fact that I was lucky to love and be loved by this man. He is my Hero. I love forever, I wait and go to meet him," the warrior's fiancée Olha shared. She is a serviceman, she served together with Andrii. The warrior was buried at the Kapustyansky cemetery in Zaporizhzhia. Andrii is survived by his parents, grandmother, younger sister, pregnant beloved, many relatives and friends.
