Andrii M. Halai

Born on December 10, 1993, in the village of Vikno, Horodenka district, Ivano-Frankivsk region. In 2009, he graduated from the 9th grade of the educational complex in the village of Vikno, Horodenka district, and in 2013 - from the Chernivtsi Transport College. From 2013, he served in the military under contract in the 80th Separate Airborne Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0284, Lviv). Since the spring of 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On July 20, 2014, soldier Halai was killed in battle during a breakthrough of the enemy encirclement around the Luhansk International Airport near the urban-type settlement of Heorhiivka in the Luhansk region. Sergeant Chyhyryn was also killed in this battle. On July 24, 2014, he was buried in the cemetery of the village of Vikno, Horodenka district. On June 21, 2015, a memorial plaque was unveiled in the village of Vikno, Horodenka district, on the facade of the educational complex building (Shevchenka Street, 64), where Andriy Halai studied.
