Andrii M. Kotsyk (Apostol)

Andrii Mykhailovych Kotsyk was born on February 4, 1987, in the village of Yaseny, Chernivtsi region. He finished school and worked as a construction worker. He sang in the church choir, was a player on a football team, and loved fishing. With the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, despite having no military experience, he decided to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 108th Separate Mountain Assault Battalion of the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade. He participated in the fiercest battles. In particular, in December 2022, while commanding a assault group, together with his comrades-in-arms, he successfully and without losses captured the enemy's position, destroying 4 and capturing 10 occupiers. In addition, the unit took 3 machine guns, a sniper rifle, grenade launchers, and night sights from the Russians. He was killed on February 4, 2023, on his birthday, during the assault on the positions of the occupiers in the area of the village of Spirne in the Donetsk region. Andrii Kotsyk was buried on February 10, 2023, in his native village.
