- Senior Sergeant Andrii Machulanskyi (call sign Mak) was killed on August 30, 2023, in the area of the village of Stara Huta, Sumy region. While carrying out a combat mission, he received fatal injuries during enemy shelling. The defender was 43 years old. Andrii was a native of the village of Kolome, Khmilnytskyi region. He studied at Netishyn Secondary School No. 2. Then he graduated with honors from Netishyn Vocational School No. 23, obtaining the profession of a radio mechanic for the repair and maintenance of television and radio equipment. After completing his military service, he worked as an electrician at the Khmilnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant. In 2002, he served under contract in military unit A0481 in Yavoriv. From 2003, he carried out a humanitarian mission in Kuwait as a grenade launcher. In 2004-2005, he carried out a peacekeeping mission in Iraq as part of the 6th and 7th Mechanized Brigades, holding the positions of machine gunner and squad leader. In 2005-2006, he carried out a peacekeeping mission in Liberia as part of the 56th Separate Helicopter Squadron, holding the position of squad leader of the security squad. Since 2007, he has been trained under the program for the preparation of platoon sergeants in "Desna", the course for the preparation of senior non-commissioned officers and warrant officers at the NATO school in the German city of Oberammergau. He also underwent training for the preparation of company sergeants. In 2008, he underwent a course for the preparation of US Army sergeants in Europe (Grafenwoehr, Germany). In October 2008, he was appointed commander of the training platoon of the Sergeants Training Center in Kharkiv, and in 2009 - as the chief warrant officer of the military college of non-commissioned officers of NTU "KhPI" (Kharkiv). Since 2013, he has worked under contracts for foreign companies in Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. He also enrolled at the Khmilnytskyi Institute of Social Technologies of the University "Ukraine", where he managed to study for only 3 years. During the full-scale Russian invasion, Andrii defended his country in the ranks of the 114th Separate Brigade of the Territorial Defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was the senior sergeant of the rifle platoon. He fought in the Sumy, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Luhansk and Chernihiv regions. During his service, he was awarded chest badges and medals: "Best Sergeant of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine", "Peacekeeper Warrior", "For Exemplary Military Service" of the III degree, "For Service for Peace", "For Service in Iraq". Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he became a full cavalier of the Order of Courage. "My beloved was a patriot. His love for his native land is boundless! Andrii loved Ukraine and wholeheartedly cared about its future. He studied history, read books by Ukrainian poets to children. He had a lifelong hobby - numismatics. I don't know a kinder, purer, more educated person. The soul of the company. We will always be proud of his courage and indomitability," said the wife of the fallen. The warrior was buried on the Alley of Heroes of the New Cemetery in Netishyn. He is survived by his parents Mykola and Valentyna, wife Oksana, son Vladyslav, and daughter Anastasia. On October 14, 2023, Andrii was posthumously promoted to the rank of Master Sergeant.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
