Andrii O. Chyshko (Chyzh)

34-year-old soldier Andriy Chyshko (call sign Chyzh) was killed on April 19, 2024, while carrying out a combat mission in the area of the village of Ternі in the Donetsk region. His life was cut short by an enemy FPV drone. Andriy was born in Zaporizhzhia. He graduated from the local vocational school No. 27 and mastered the profession of a lathe operator. He was involved in handball, but his calling in life was culinary arts. Before the full-scale war, he worked as a cook in one of the catering establishments in Poland. When the full-scale invasion began, the man returned from abroad and joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He fought as part of the 3rd separate assault brigade. He held the position of a squad commander. Comrades-in-arms remember that Chyzh always had the most delicious borscht. For his worthy service, he received the following awards: "For Assistance in the Defense of Kyiv", "Golden Cross", "Cross of the Brave". "Andryukha... Friend Chyzh. A true patriot and a role model of the Ukrainian nation. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, when most men were fleeing their homes abroad, you without hesitation returned from abroad to defend your Homeland, because trouble came to the country and you could not stand aside. You always wanted to move forward and have the opportunity to destroy even more enemies. You went through the Bakhmut campaign. When your friend Ford was buried as a result of a hit in the dugout, you without hesitation ran to dig him out under heavy fire with your helmet, thereby saving his life. The Avdiivka campaign - pure hell, you were restrained, a squad commander, leading the guys, and thanks to you, the assigned task was accomplished. But, unfortunately, not without losses, when the bullet of a Russian sniper took the life of your friend Kos, and you were hit in the plate, which saved your life. Ternі. Our battalion was tasked with extinguishing the breakthrough of the occupiers in this direction. You and the guys held the most responsible section, the loss of which would have caused the death of dozens of comrades-in-arms who could have remained surrounded. The FPV attack, which you probably did not hear due to the intensity of the shelling, took your life. A life that you gave to save dozens of others. Friend Chyzh, I have the honor to serve with you and be a friend. Serve, because you are forever with us in the ranks. We will not forgive, we will take revenge and continue your cause - to achieve victory!" - wrote a comrade-in-arms with the call sign Kichman. Andriy was buried in the Levanevskoho cemetery in Zaporizhzhia. The defender left behind a mother, beloved, relatives, friends and comrades-in-arms.
