- 42-year-old senior sergeant Andriy Horoholinskyi (call sign Che) was killed on September 23, 2024 near the village of Mali Prokhody in the Kharkiv region. As part of a special forces group, he was carrying out a combat mission to evacuate a subgroup. The defenders encountered an enemy ambush of FPV drones. Che and his comrade-in-arms were killed on the spot from injuries incompatible with life. Andriy was born in Kamianets-Podilskyi, Khmilnytskyi region. In 2005, he graduated from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and received a qualification as a philosophy teacher. From an early age, he joined the ranks of Plast. Over the years in Plast, he was a co-organizer of numerous camps and training programs for children and youth. He was a professional instructor. From a young age, he was passionate about military equipment and military affairs. In civilian life, he worked as a tourism instructor and a military equipment design engineer at Ukrainian Armor. In 2014-2015, he participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation as part of the Harpun volunteer battalion. In 2017-2020, he served under contract and fought in the Anti-Terrorist Operation/Joint Forces Operation. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, he defended the country, returning from abroad. He served in the 8th separate special operations regiment of the Special Operations Forces named after Prince Iziaslav Mstyslavavych. He carried out combat missions in the Kharkiv, Sumy, Donetsk and Luhansk regions. He always demonstrated extraordinary courage, determination and professionalism. For his military service, the soldier was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree, the Golden Cross Award, the MOD Firearm Award, and repeatedly received awards for wounds. Posthumously, he was awarded the Order of Courage of the II degree. "Andriy was the embodiment of the chivalric virtues he cherished, and by his own example taught others. He was a true philosopher-dreamer, and also a walking encyclopedia, because he knew absolutely everything you asked him. But despite this, he was incredibly modest. None of his friends and relatives ever knew the details of another wound or another award. The uncompromising and steadfastness of his views amazed everyone who knew him. He loved life incredibly, and most of all - Ukraine," his sister Marina said. Andriy was buried in the Alley of Glory of the Kamianets-Podilskyi city cemetery. He is survived by his parents, younger sister, wife and son.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
