- On May 27, 2022, during a battle between the villages of Bilohirka and Lozove in Kherson region, senior soldier Andriy Sorokaliotov (call sign Sava) was killed. He was 31 years old. Andriy was born in the city of Smila in Cherkasy region. At the age of 10, he moved to the village of Novopavlivka to live with his grandmother and aunt, who raised him. In 2009, the guy was drafted into the Ukrainian Armed Forces for conscript service. He joined the 72nd separate mechanized brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians. After the army, in 2010, he married a girl he had been dating since school. A year later, she gave birth to their first child. The couple lived in Mykolaiv for some time, then moved to Novopavlivka. In 2015, Andriy Sorokaliotov was mobilized into the 72nd OMB. The fighter took part in the Anti-Terrorist Operation. On the first day of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Andriy stood up to defend his homeland. He defended the country as part of the 36th Marine Brigade named after Counter Admiral Mykhailo Bilynsky. His unit performed combat missions in Mykolaiv and Kherson regions. "Because there is a war! There will be trouble if everyone sits at home. I wouldn't have gone, but I have children. We are all fighting for the children - so that they don't see the war," the fighter replied to the question of why he was in the army. Andriy was a jack-of-all-trades. He immediately took on any job and performed it perfectly, everyone knew about it. Responsible and demanding, but always remained not only a comrade, but also a real person. He found a common language with both his elders and those younger than him. He never refused to take a shovel, a weapon, or responsibility for his actions. "Young, handsome, kind, 31 years old. But he had a life experience of 50 years. All the doors of the world were open to him... But he chose to be a Warrior. He chose to serve his country and justice. He couldn't be otherwise. Education, kindness, principles, and values. That's what makes a person a real Person. The best people give their lives for us and our country... So that we become better," said Andriy's wife. The hero is survived by his wife Inna, sons Danylo and Yaroslav.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
