Andrii V. Zakavrashnyi (Missisipi)

Senior soldier Andrii Zakavrashnyi (call sign Mississippi) was killed on November 14, 2022 in the hospital from wounds received the day before near the village of Vremivka in the Donetsk region. The defender was 25 years old. Andrii was born in the village of Lykhachiv, Chernihiv region. After school, he graduated from the Nizhyn Agrotechnical Institute. He served in the army in Mykolaiv, where he received the rank of senior soldier. During the full-scale war, Andrii defended Ukraine in the ranks of the 1st separate Siverian tank brigade. He was a rifleman-assistant grenadier. He took part in the defense of the Chernihiv, Donetsk and Zaporizhia regions, where he received a concussion. During the examination, the doctors found another disease in him - gonarthrosis, and offered to send him for treatment. However, the defender refused and returned to the front line to his comrades, from where they again went to the Donetsk region. "He was a positive, cheerful person who brought light to everyone around him. Always friendly and polite. He tried to help everyone who needed it. He didn't like it when someone was sad, he always lifted everyone's mood, he liked it when everyone smiled. He was like a spark with sparks that ignited those around him, probably that's why he burned out so quickly. He dreamed of a big house where all his relatives would live," said the hero's sister Olga. "Andrii was an active student, always smiling, sincere and kind, and that's how he will forever remain in our hearts! The memory of his heroic deed will live in our memory forever!" - stated on the page of the Nizhyn Institute. The serviceman was buried in his native village in the Chernihiv region. Andrii is survived by his mother, grandmother, two sisters and two brothers.
