- Bogdan Viktorovych Vavilov was born on May 5, 1995, in Vinnitsa. In 2013, he graduated from Vinnitsa General Education School I-III degrees No. 18. Bogdan comes from a dynasty of military personnel, whose roots trace back to Ukrainian Cossacks. Bogdan's great-grandfather, Vavilov Pavlo Vasylovych, was a first-class pilot. In 1941, over the territory of Ukraine, Pavlo Vasylovych's plane was shot down by the Germans, and the pilot himself sustained serious injuries and was commissioned and sent to the rear. However, as soon as he healed his wounds, he immediately returned to defend his homeland from the invaders. In 1945, during the retreat of the Germans, his plane was shot down over Zaporizhzhia. Bogdan's grandfather, Vavilov Heorhiy Pavlovych, followed in his father's footsteps and also became a first-class military pilot, who not only skillfully served but also conducted practical training for young cadets. Knowing the history of his family, Bogdan consciously chose the path of a military man. Since childhood, he dreamed of being a defender and a warrior. In 2013, Bogdan Vavilov signed a contract to serve in the National Guard of Ukraine and began to defend our state. Since 2014, the guardsman has been on rotation in the area of the ATO / JFO seven times. In 2018, he obtained higher education at the Ministry of Internal Affairs Academy of Ukraine (Kyiv). After the full-scale invasion of Russian troops into the territory of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Bogdan Vavilov returned to the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine and began to defend his homeland. For a month, he trained fighters preparing for the front and constantly asked his commander to send him to the front line as well. On March 24, 2022, Bogdan Vavilov was assigned to the National Guard grouping in the East Operational-Tactical Group for combat missions. On April 19, 2022, as part of the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade, Bogdan Vavilov carried out service-combat tasks near the village of Solodke in the Maryinka district of Donetsk region. During the enemy's artillery shelling, Bogdan sustained a shrapnel wound to the head, but despite this, he carried three wounded comrades out from under the shelling, after which he lost consciousness and was taken to the intensive care unit of the Mechnikov Dnipropetrovsk Regional Clinical Hospital. In the hospital, the guardsman fought for his life for 10 days but succumbed to his injuries on April 30, 2022. Bogdan had a good heart and a pronounced sense of justice; he was always surrounded by friends who loved him sincerely. The young man was a bright, open person, had a good sense of humor, and loved life in all its manifestations. He dreamed of continuing his education, seeing the world, and starting a family. Bogdan had many grand plans and was eager to realize them. Unfortunately, these plans were not destined to come true. The guardsman was buried in the Glory Alley of the Sabariv Cemetery in Vinnitsa. For personal courage and selfless actions exhibited in defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and loyalty to the military oath, Bogdan Viktorovych Vavilov was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" of the III degree. According to the order of the Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, Bogdan Vavilov has been permanently included in the personnel list of military unit 3008 of the National Guard of Ukraine.Memory Book of the MIA System
